Skiing in the Lechtal

Top class pistes, snow reliability and unique panoramic views.

The Lechtal nature park region caters to all types of skiers. Experts and beginners, families as well as leisure skiers will find something for their needs in the numerous ski areas. If you just can’t get enough of skiing, you can even ski at night in floodlight in Stanzach or Elbigenalp.

In Bach is the biggest lift of the Lechtal, the Jöchelspitzbahn. The double chairlift reliably transports all winter sports enthusiast on top of one of the most beautiful viewing mountains. At a relaxed pace one conquers the distance between the valley and the mountain station. The farther up one gets, the more majestic the view. Up there one can see the Lechtal downstream and upstream. On the other side the Lechtal Alps present themselves from their most beautiful side. Up there it is easy to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Skiers and snowboarders are spoiled with top-class pistes. Ski mountaineers also get their money’s worth. On Monday evenings one can climb to the Sonnalm hut with mountaineering skis. If you want to you can enjoy a break stop there and recharge. You can also return to the valley and take a break at the Hexenkessel next to the base station. The area around the Jöchelspitze is especially snow-reliable. To increase the snow-reliability a modern and high-performance snow-making facility was installed. This way lift operation into spring time is guaranteed.

Stanzach ski area around the Stoanmandl lift or the Knittel ski lift in Elbigenalp are smaller lifts. Both lifts are in sunny and central location and promise skiing pleasures for the young an old. All, who want to ski also at night, appreciate these two lift facilities. One can see the white downhill from far. They magically attract skiers and snowboarders. Try night skiing! The sight is top class. Rough terrain can be noticed even better than in daylight. And the atmosphere is simply unique.

If you prefer a more exclusive and bigger skiing experience, you are spoilt for choice in the nearby Warth-Schröcken ski resort. The motto in the Lechtal is: “Stay overnight cheaply in the Lechtal and ski exclusively at the Arlberg!” This is no problem, since there has been a connection from the Auenfeld to Lech since 2013/14. There you have access to 47 lifts and 190km of pistes for skiing.  Pure skiers’ bliss! Another highlight is the free bus transport (with valid ski pass) into the Warth/Schröcken ski area. This feeder bus brings you to the lifts conveniently and can of course also be used for returning into the Lechtal.
