Sculpture and carving in the Lech Valley

For some people, wood is just wood. But it is precisely from a simple block that something wonderful can arise. Craftsmanship, a feeling for shapes and a love of art are the prerequisites here for breathing life into a rough block of wood.

In the Lech Valley, especially in Elbigenalp, carving creates a link between art and craft. In numerous sculpture workshops, sacred carvings and modern sculptures are lovingly and intricately handcrafted - both natural and elaborately painted or even gilded.

Craftsmanship and the love of art unite in a unique way.

In the Tyrolean Lech Valley you have the opportunity to be creative during your vacation and take courses and workshops in the field of carving, sculpture.

A variety of carving workshops and two carving schools offer appropriate training and courses in the Lech Valley.

Carving school Elbigenalp

College of arts and crafts and design

One of these schools is the private carving school with public rights, which goes back to the lithographer Johann Anton Falger and was founded in 1830. Even "Geierwally" - Anna Stainer-Knittel - received instruction here. Today, the school with boarding school offers a variety of artistic apprenticeships, including sculpture, painting, gilding and typeface design. During the summer vacations, the school also offers carving courses for beginners and advanced, aimed at amateur artists. You can also admire the students' most beautiful works of art in the school's showroom.

School of carving and sculpture Geisler-Moroder

The Geisler-Moroder family also has a long tradition in sculpture, which has been passed down from generation to generation for 400 years. The Geisler-Moroder Sculpture School has existed in its current form for 25 years and is a tradition-conscious company. In addition to the popular carving and sculpting courses, various recreational and continuing education courses are offered, including wood creative camps and children's carving courses. The courses are intentionally kept small to allow participants to receive individual attention from the instructors. People of all ages and from all over the world are welcome.
