Mountain tour Großer Krottenkopf crossing

The traverse of the Großer Krottenkopf, which at 2,656 meters is the highest peak of the Hornbach chain and the Allgäu Alps, is one of the classics in the Allgäu Alps. The tour is best approached from the Hermann von Barth hut, alternatively the approaches from Elbigenalp through the Bernhardstal or from Holzgau through the Höhenbachtal are possible. The ascent via the beautiful and partly exposed north ridge requires the III. UIAA grade, the descent is via the normal route.
